Seeking a Head of R&D to lead our research initiatives in recycling and metal recovery.  
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical engineering or materials science,  
with a passion for innovation and sustainability. This role involves overseeing the development  
of new processes and technologies, ensuring alignment with industry standards, and driving the  
growth of our advanced recycling facility. 

Requirements: 
• M.Sc./M. Tech/ PhD in (Chemical Engineering, Energy Science and Engineering, Metallurgy, 
and similar related fields, Chemistry solid-state, organic, Inorganic, and industrial).  
• 5-8 years of industry or 7-10 years of industry and research experience   
• Knowledge of Lithium-ion battery recycling (hydrometallurgy) and elemental characterization 
techniques is expected  
• Experience in patents, research articles, and project writing.

Responsibilities  
• Leadership and Strategy: Lead R&D initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational goals 
and industry advancements.                                                                                                   
Develop and implement an innovation strategy that identifies new areas for research and 
development.  
• Process Development: Design, develop, and optimise processes for elemental extraction 
and beneficiation of various Lithium-ion battery chemistries.                                              
Oversee the synthesis, optimization, and scale-up of recycling processes.  
• Research Management: Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to identify project 
requirements and critical factors.                                                                                           
Manage R&D projects, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline management.  
• Material Characterization: Characterise recovered materials with a focus on battery 
materials recycling.                                                                                                            
Prepare battery materials according to established protocols, process samples, and analyse 
data for reporting. 
• Intellectual Property: Engage in patent writing and technical article preparation, ensuring 
cross-verification of facts.                                                                                                        
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage intellectual property initiatives.  
• Data Analysis: Maintain comprehensive records of R&D activities and present data insights 
in innovative ways.                                                                                                                     
Monitor team metrics to ensure project goals are met efficiently.  
• Collaboration: Foster collaboration across departments, working closely with engineering, 
manufacturing, and marketing teams.                                                                                         
Communicate effectively with team members to resolve complex challenges creatively.  
• Lab Management: Oversee the setup and monitoring of R&D lab operations, including safety 
protocols.                                                                                                                              
Assist in maintaining an updated inventory of chemicals in the R&D lab.
